R. B. Patel Highschool, Kavitha | History In Brief

ઇતિહાસ

In early days, i.e. before independence, the people of Kavitha had no more income as the main source was only farming and that was also rain /whether dependant. The source of Education for children was almost nil. In such time a very few were able to do some development.

For English, everybody has to go to Borsad. It was also a very hard job. There were no vehicles, no roads, no other way. Girls were unable to go and as a result they were totally omitted from the academic matter.

Some interested people started the movement for establishment of academic facilities. Others supported as per own caliber; and as a result, the English school named ‘A.V. School, Kavitha’ came in existence on 4th. December 1937. the group of the people who organized the function and sort out the functional draft, formed a Trust body, known as ‘A.V.School Mandal, Kavitha, Taluka: Borsad.’ The Trust body and other detailed documents etc. were registered at Kheda as per Govt. procedures.

Shri Jivanlal Chunilal was given the responsibilities of the said Mandal as a Secretary. Other members were 1- Shri Maganbhai Fulchand Shah, 2-Shri Bhogilal Ratanchand Shah, 3-Shri Dahyabhai Ichchhabhai Patel, 4- Shri Somabhai Desaibhai Patel, 5- Shri Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel, 6- Shri Ravajibhai Hathibhai Patel, 7- Shri Ambalal Tulsibhai Patel, 8- Shri Nandshankar Manilal Pandit, 9- Shri Hardevgir Aditgir Goswami,10- Shri Nathabhai Ichchhabhai Patel, 11- Shri Babarbhai Manorbhai Patel, 12- Shri Parshottambhai Kashibhai Patel, 13- Shri Hathibhai Haribhai, 14- Shri Babarbhai Ichhabhai Patel,15- Shri Babarbhai Jethabhai etc. who were active and interested in such dedicated work. Now it was the time when the necessity of education has drawn the attention of every group of people and surrounding villages also. Every one was interested in the talk. This made the progress rapid and one by one upper standards were started up to std. 11; i.e Matriculation as said on that time.

Some suggested, for a separate body who can handle the middle school activities and progress, as there was a demand for a well established building and other facilities. So a new committee was formed named “ Kavitha Madhyamik kelavani Mandal-Kavitha”. This Mandal was registered in 1954. Shri Kasturchand Manilal Shah was selected to be a President. Shri Fulabhai Shanabhai Patel as secretary and others, Shri Fulabhai Lallu bhai-Becharbhai, Shri Ranchhodbhai Zaverbhai Patel, Shri Hirabhai Prabhudas Patel etc. were the members.

One honorable donor Shri Ranchhodbhai Babarbhai Patel, donated fund for construction of a good building. On his intials the school was entitled a name “R.B. Patel High School” in 1958. Classes for primary level, i.e.std 5,6 & 7 also started. The unit became to cater from std. 5 to std. 11. in 1965. Primary section was also given a facility of separate building in honor of Late Shri Sumanbhai Babarbhai Patel. Shri Ramabhai Mamarbhai Patel donated Rs. 54,000/- for Higher Education.

People were satisfied by the function of the body, but some practical problems, created new picture. There became two bodies for one activity of one village, of course with some different ground but negligible. The time factor had also a considerable impact on function. Years were passing and the dedicated members passed away leaving a vacancy. Filling such posts was a headache and affecting the function. Separate accounting and auditing was also a matter of confusion.

In such circumstances, wise people thought ‘should not we merge the both in one and give a new title ?’ The problem was discussed in details at the meeting again and again. At the end it was confirmed positively. Shri Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel was the active member and had worked in either ground as per the need. When he passed away, his family members offered Rs. 3 lakh (Three Lakh Rupees) as a trust fund. The new –merged body was entitled as Shri “Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel Madhymik Kelavani Mandal-Kavitha.“

Shri Ramanbhai Babarbhai Patel was given the authority for the Govt. Procedures. He made contact at the office of Honorable Charity Commissioner and cleared the papers as per the rules. Now either mandals were merged and a new name “Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel Madhymik Kelavani Mandal-Kavitha” was registered on 29-04-2002 at the Anand Office, holding a number E-2587.

Since June 2000, Computer training is also added. The Sons of Late Shri Natubhai Chaturbhai Patel, provided 10 (Ten) computer sets along with other facilities in honor of their father. The unit is catering the computer education from primary level to higher secondary level students.

The secretary of the newly formed committee, Shri Hirabhai Prabhudas Patel passed away in 2003. his post is given to Shri Pravinbhai Dahyabhai Patel

The land acquired by the whole integrated unit, is donated by Mr. Haradevgir Aditgir Goswami. The Committee members are very much thankful for that.

At now the newly formed committee Shri “Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel Madhymik Kelavani Mandal – Kavitha” is the merged body of either and runs the following institutions as per Govt. rules, with the help of donors and government schemes.

1- Shri R.B.Patel High School (Middle School level).
